RE:  QBs  Online Edition (QBOE) Web System  - General Info                  Originated:   December 2000

As of May 2008,  please  Click Here  and go to a paragraph in JIMs JRNL where you will find some current information via  Brad Pendable   as we go into depth about the current use of  the QBox and its use of QBOE.   Let me know at  Jim@bcidot.org  if you have any comments or questions.    Please  Click Here  for access to the current contents of our  QBOE  folder.

     QBOE
is a Web Based Application (one time called ASP - or Application Service Providers) -  where the software is usable via the Web, or Internet, and not on your desktop.  This topic was discussed in depth in our  April 2000  editorial.  Please  Click Here  and also find a discounted cost option available to Non Profit Ministries.  Please also go to  0934  for more information about Web Based Application services.

In our view, this topic is VERY relevant to  Ministry Finance Teamsbecause Quickbooks, or QB, is probably the most widely used accounting software out there.  Please go to  0601  to access our Onliner Document about using the regular desktop Quickbooks (QB) Pro  software for Fund Accounting at Ministries.  Also click here   as see the relevant information at our Sitemap..

Below are some observations about QBOE resources being especially a prospective blessing to Smaller Evangelical Ministries like Churches, Schools, Mission Agencies, Camps-Conferences and like minded groups.  Please access  0821 for possible use of QBOE by individual Christians, or BLVRs

  •   The Internet is becoming more and more reliable.

  •   Most Ministries are feeling comfortable using the Internet as a resource/tool for financial purposes.

  •   There is a lot of evidence that the Internet is quite trustworthy and secure; e.g., notice the Online Services now available at ECCU.

  •   Smaller Ministries have limited financial and personnel resources so they MUST be efficient and use applicable tools.

POSI and NEGI aspects of QBOE, in our view, includes the following:

P O S I

  •   More than one authorized Ministry Finance person can use the Internet via Microsoft's free Internet Explorer, Version 5.5 or later versions, as they go to their common QBOE accounting system on the Internet and carry out their unique responsibilities.

  •   The current monthly fee for QBOE is something like $30.00

  •   There is no need to buy and install/update the QBOE  software; they keep it current.

  •   QBOE  System setup time is quite straight forward.

  •   QBOE  connection via a laptop is possible.

  •   QBOE  backs up your data in a continuous and secure fashion.

  •   One of those authorized to go to your QBOE initially can be a person to assist you get going and monitor your system for a time.  Very much like this person having your manual set of books before them.

  •   You do not have to remember to pay QB as they automatically charge your Credit Card or your bank account.

N E G I

  •   The primary user at the Ministry MUST use one of the speedy online connections or the access response time is quite frustrating.

  •   The primary user needs a contingent online connection means in case their Internet connection fails. But this is probably not an issue with non-primary users.

  •   The only permitted browser is Internet Explorer Version 5.5 or later versions.
