QUESTION #1:

        I have been a member of your "QBatch" Yahoo Forum found at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/qbatch  and I received a recent notice from you that this "QBatch" Forum is being replaced with the new "QBunch" Yahoo Forum found at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/qbunch.
        Before I ask to become a member of the new "QBunch" Forum, I need more info about this.  Why did you, as Moderator, make this change, Jim?

ANSWER #1:

        Thank you for contacting me.  The "QBatch" Yahoo Forum was initiated back in June 2002 and the largest number of members were some 120.  In recent months the membership have been inactive and seems to not really accomplishing the purpose of helping one another make the maximum use of QuickBooks (QBs) at your Church or Christian Ministry. 
        It seems that it erroneously was being viewed as a tool primarily for "Jim Bramer"  ---- and this needs to change. 

QUESTION #2:

        What are the membership requirements of the new "QBunch" Yahoo Forum?

ANSWER #2:

        When anyone (this includes previous members of "QBatch", etc.) asks to become a member of "QBunch" they "are required"  to provide the Moderator with the following information:

     A - Ministry Type:

___ Church
___ Mission Agency or other like Ministry
___ School
___ Paid Consultant or the like

     B - Fund Accounting Method as defined within:  http://www.bcidot.org/qbb/0601-06.html

___ We use the QBs Equity accounts
___ We use the QBs Class feature to identify our non General Funds
___ We use another method - Plse explain to  Jim@bcidot.org  

     C - STATUS of you using QBs: You are at what "Stage" in your use of QBs at this point in time?

____We are observing or still in the process of deciding if QBs is what we should use.
____We just choose to use QBs at your Ministry and want more input as to its use.
____We are a QBs User and have decided on which Fund Acctg Method to use.
____We are getting started with our Chart of Accts. We might even be running our current system and QBs parallel for a time
____We are finished with running parallel and have pretty much worked out the kinks, or we are in our 1st fiscal year of using QBs
___  We are a full QBs User at our Ministry for over a year and we  want to learn how to be even more effective in its use
____ None of the above,  please explain to   Jim@bcidot.org   

     D - QBs EDITION-VERSION:  As applicable, which QBs do you use?

QUESTION #3

      Wow, Jim, this seems like a lot of Ministry info.  Why is this necessary and as Moderator, what do you do with it?

ANSWER 3#:

        In my judgment, and in pursuit of more meaningful member involvement and assistance to one another, the membership needs to know why/how members are using QBs,   Or what do you have in common with another "QBunch" member. 
        For example, let's say that you are a Church and you wish to know what Church users of QBs have learned in their "Status of Using QBs" that can help you do a better job here, etc.  Members need to know what they have in common with fellow members.  Another value is to learn who has helped them along these lines and if a fellow member would recommend them, etc. 
        So they become a member and have access to the foregoing information out on
"QBunch" and use it as they see fit to make them better users of QBs. 

QUESTION #4

        Where do I find this data at "QBunch" once I become a member?
 

ANSWER 4#:

         At the "QBunch" Home Page you will find "Database." in the left hand 'pane.'  When you Click on it you will find Tables and Tools.  Click on "Member Specifics" and you will find a list of all the members by Email Address that also includes how they have responded to the above "A - E"  items.  Locate someone that will likely have something in common with you as you make use of QBs and learn of their experiences.
        As a member, be sure and make full use of the significant use of QBs at Christian Ministries information found within the Word doc
"FILES" area and the Internet "LINKS" area as also referenced within the left hand "pane'  of the Home Page.  As a member, please feel free to make known other of such resources to me,  as the Moderator, for possible placement therein.  The Moderator is the only one that can add or update any of such helpful resources.

QUESTION #5

        I do not want my Email address "harvested" so that I get more junk Email.  What about security and privacy issues ?

ANSWER 5#:

        I will continue to be very selective about who can become a "QBunch" member -- only members can access the information within this Yahoo Forum, etc.  Again, the objective is for members to appropriately interact, not only within the Forum  but also via direct Email as you together effectively use QBs for Christian Ministry purposes. 
        If anyone gets improper email from any
"QBunch" member, let me know and I will act accordingly.
