RE: One "Business Manager" serve more than one Ministry Originated in February 2009
Today's "FOR WHAT IT IS WORTH" editorial
For some time I have been pondering how today's significant Internet resources and their meaningful tools could be used to assist Small Christ Centered Entities, or Small Ministries prudently manage their business affairs. I define such endeavors as tax exempt entities like: Churches, Schools, Missionary Organizations, Camps/Retreats -- who handle $500,000 or less per annum.
--- PERSPECTIVE ---
These Ministries are not as likely to manage their business affairs effectively since their leaders usually do not have a business background. Click Here for info as to specific tasks, etc. Especially lacking is the vital fiscal leadership and day to day management as they keep abreast of meaningful financial facts so they can control their spending.
Obviously, such Small Ministries do not have the resources to retain such a person full time. It seems this whole matter is especially applicable to such Ministries when they begin.
--- THOUGHTS ---
A possible solution is for a single such Business/Finance Administrator serve multiple Small Ministries with a healthy remote management emphasis or thrust ... but ideally within the same geographical area so they can meet together in person from time to time.
--- RESOURCES ---
Such a person would do this by maximizing the use of the Internet tools and resources. There are now remote management capabilities like www.gotomypc.com plus such things as Web cams etc using such resources as SKYPE whereby you both see each other via the Internet. Plus such an effort would make full use of accounting systems and facilities whereby Bank and Plastic transactions flow electronically to your structured and computerized set of books, etc. Please GO HERE. for an example of this process. Please digest the Internet Friendly aspects as described when you GO HERE
--- HOW THIS COULD BE DONE ---
Such a person would either flow via a central group like Associational/Denominational resources or they could be self-employed. In this process, of course, there is always the communication of needed information among the leadership via Email/attachments plus you all periodically spend meaningful in-person time at the Small Ministries
