RE:   Major Decision Makers need to COGITATE                                  Originated in November 2007

 Today's   "Ax to Grind"

No doubt many of you can identify with this - - - -

You are a very  very  busy person as demonstrated by the fact that you are BLVR  and you are very active at your Church (you serve on the Leadership Board, etc.), you are a full-time Parent,  your folks are getting elderly and need attention, plus, vocationally  you are the "Major Decision Maker" at your business.   In general, you have a lot of "Irons in the Fire."

What I have to share applies to a
"Major Decision Maker" of any type of endeavor;  be it a  Non-Profit  Ministry, a Commercial Business  or you are simply the one that is responsible for a major project within any type of  these organizations.  Suffice to say , your time is valuable and it must be spent very wisely or in ways that are honoring to the Lord.

I maintain that people like you need a planned time to
COGITATE  ----  or you must have some "THUNK" time.  The meaning of the word  " COGITATE "  includes such aspects as:  >> To carefully think though an issue or matter; >>  to ponder or meditate;  >> to consider and reflect carefully and deeply;  >>  to turn matters over in one's mind and heart;  >> to exercise one's power of reasoning in order to arrive at quality conclusions, decisions,  and/or judgments about what is before you.   Good decisions are usually made within the proper context of :

   a>  What has already happened,
b>  What is expected to happen today
c>  What is expected to happen in the near future after today;  plus, or course,
d>  What is expected to happen in the distant future.

Bottom line…… as the "Major Decision Maker" you must rightfully make decisions at least concerning issues in dealing with people, plus you need to accurately know the true meaning of verbal and written reports that come to you.   Below are some ideas about this suggested "COGITATE"   process:

1>   This should NOT take the place of your very personal quiet time for Prayer and Bible Study
2>   This should happen when you are the most 'fresh' ---   hopefully every morning when you are in your office (perhaps between 9 and 9:30 AM) after you have settled in for the day.  You may want to start doing this two/three times a week and ultimately do it on every working day.
3>   The thrust is interaction with yourself as the Lord "looks over your shoulder" and leads or guides you,  etc.
4>    All of your helpers should  know that you have an appointment with yourself and you are
NOT  to be disturbed
5>    During this time, you allow
NO  interruptions that come from such sources as phone calls or Emails.  Your Computer is  NOT   active..
6>    Emergencies during this time are harshly defined and understood by all.
7>    There is value in an applicable weekly Scripture Verse  (see Psalm 86:11)  that is pertinent to an effort like this proposed  "COGITATE"  time
