RE: Small Ministries & their use of Web Based services Originated in April 2007
I recently read an article where the referenced picture, or graphic, was a waste paper basket overflowing with software packets that you bought some time ago and you had placed on your computer's hard drive, etc. Or the article's thrust -- this type of software is no longer needed and you will find the merits in using, directly via the Internet, various Web Based software products for the reasons expressed Here some seven years ago ---- (please also see the READ MORE ABOUT WEB BASED RESOURCES below. Some people are now referring to such Web Based Online resources as "ways to migrate to the Internet --- or you now access a system through a provider's "Software Hosting" portal."
This is more and more doable these days because I am told that some 60% of US Households now have high-speed fast Online connections - and many folk are oriented to using a mobile laptop. Apparently over half of TurboTax users (software used to prepare personal tax returns) do not buy software now but use the Internet and Web Based services as they do this. Another factor in all of this is that current users of the Internet are divided up in the following age groups:
01> Almost three fourths of all people aged 18 to 49
02> Nearly two thirds of all people aged 50 to 64
03> Some one quarter of all people 65 and older
*Ax to Grind"
I define a Small Ministries as Churches, Schools, Missionary Organizations and Camps/Conferences who handle less than $500,000 per annum. --- I also reference those Ministries handling $99,999 or less as "Mom-Pop" Ministries. Or within context of the TRUISM that these Ministries are probably missing out if they are not using all of what the Internet has to offer --- which means, of course, that as good stewards of the Lord they MUST be fully aware of Web Based services and should be using relevant applications.
WHAT (Web Based applications are you talking about?)
Aside from you having an effective web site in making known your Small Ministry and your purpose, I am talking about full use of Email and collaboration (Click Here for more info) via the Internet as you effectively communicate and you manage the said Small Ministry. Again, please note the READ MORE ABOUT WEB BASED RESOURCES info found below. Of course, this old "Bean Counter" is especially interested in you using the appropriate Web Based resources as you are the very best administrator of your finances that are collected/spent/retained/reported, etc.
HOW (might some of this take place?)
Small Ministries understandably often function from a "Mom and Pop" perspective. Or due to their leader's background plus limited personnel, and financial resources, they usually are not as "with it" as larger Ministries in carrying out their ministry objective. So some one should be positioned to help them with regard to such things as the following:
>> Help them Identify/select/use the Web Based applications that can best help their unique Ministry endeavor. Especially with regard to the pluses and minus as to their present tools plus staff and volunteers. Maybe even provide some sort of co-op entity for these purposes. See read ideas placed Here
>> Provide and explain the possible Web Based applications that help their staff and volunteer workers as well as provide what is needed by their constituents. Please see resources below.
>> Train/tutor/provide Online one-time or continuous assistance via especially well trained remote volunteers/Onliners or inexpensive helpers/Onliners from either "across the street" or "across the country." You do this as they effectively use these Web Based tools and resources to enhance its effectiveness as unto the Lord.
