Today's  "FOR WHAT IT IS WORTH" editorial

Preface

Both my wife, Bettie, and I are receiving pensions -- which means, I guess, that we would be classified as "RETIRED" members of society , or at least Semi-Retired (BG, or Big Grin)

Retirement

Today there seems to be more and more retired people out there due to such things as early retirement or people are just living way beyond 62-65 etcWe received mail today from a "RETIREMENT" source that caught my attention. It stated that "RETIREMENT" usually means that you now have resources so you can decide how you are going to spend your time. Being "RETIRED" means different things to different people. Some that they mentioned appear below.

  •         Do volunteer work.
  •         Travel and see different parts of the world.
  •         Pursue creative endeavors ---- usually at home.
  •         Simply relax and spend more time with family and friends.
  •         Or even launch a business endeavor of real interest to you.

Often after initially "goofing" around they get bored just sitting around at home, etc. Or they appropriately desire to actively serve the Lord by being productive -- often from their place of residence.  Many are comfortable using Computers and the Internet.  So how do we pursue ways to tap into this vast potential resource?

Encourage Retirees to get Involved

You have probably come to www.bcidot.org  because you are curious and you probably have some interest and financial expertise as it concerns Christian Ministries.  I am hopeful that you desire to continue, during this "RETIRED" phase of your life, to please the Lord with your Time and Talent (notice I have left out Treasury BG!).

Possible methods for doing this:

Please feel free to share your ideas with  Jim@bcidot.org if you have any thoughts or comments on this topic.  Perhaps being a   HOMER   is of interest to you.   Personally, I see tremendous potential out there for remote Online Accounting helps at Ministries as detailed when you Go Here.

  •         Treasurer of the Ministry Board.
  •         Internal or Associate Auditors.
  •         Provide Online financial record keeping/reporting helps per specifics when you  Click Here .
  •         SCHAR  (School Acct Receivable) Facilitator.
  •         Church counters
  •         SCRIP Store Accountants.
  •         Provide some HOMER help to BLVRs.  Also Click Here for links that explain how you might be able to use the Internet to be of some specific helps to often needy people, etc.

Final thrust

My prayer is that you are poised to be of meaningful help to a  Ministry Finance Team. or  the appropriate  BLVR.   You might find of interest some ways to use Computers and the Internet when you  Click Here..
